Asl\u0131nda bilim insanlar\u0131 y\u00fczlerce y\u0131ld\u0131r mumlara ve yan\u0131\u015flar\u0131na hayranl\u0131k duymaktad\u0131r.<br \/>\nMichael Faraday, 1860 y\u0131l\u0131nda &#8220;Bir Mumun Kimyasal Tarihi&#8221; adl\u0131 \u00fcnl\u00fc konferans serisini vermi\u015f ve yanan bir mum \u00fczerinde yapt\u0131\u011f\u0131 dikkatli g\u00f6zlemlerle, d\u00fczinelerce bilimsel ilkeyi ortaya koymu\u015ftur.<br \/>\n1990&#8217;lar\u0131n sonlar\u0131nda NASA, mum alevlerinin mikro yer\u00e7ekimindeki davran\u0131\u015flar\u0131n\u0131 \u00f6\u011frenmek i\u00e7in uzay meki\u011fi deneyleri yaparak mum ara\u015ft\u0131rmalar\u0131n\u0131 yeni boyutlara ta\u015f\u0131m\u0131\u015ft\u0131r.<\/p>\n<p>G\u00fcn\u00fcm\u00fczde d\u00fcnyan\u0131n d\u00f6rt bir yan\u0131ndaki \u00fcniversiteler ve ara\u015ft\u0131rma laboratuvarlar\u0131ndaki bilim insanlar\u0131 mum alevleri, emisyonlar ve yanma hakk\u0131nda daha fazla bilgi edinmek i\u00e7in mumlarla deneyler yapmaya devam ediyor. Buharla\u015fan bu molek\u00fcller aleve do\u011fru \u00e7ekilir ve burada havadaki oksijenle tepkimeye girerek \u0131s\u0131, \u0131\u015f\u0131k, su buhar\u0131 (H2O) ve karbondioksit (CO2) olu\u015ftururlar.<\/p>\n<p>Bir mumun yanmas\u0131yla olu\u015fan enerjinin yakla\u015f\u0131k d\u00f6rtte biri, alevden her y\u00f6ne \u0131s\u0131 yay\u0131lmas\u0131yla d\u0131\u015far\u0131 verilir.<\/p>\n<p>Yak\u0131t t\u00fckenene veya \u0131s\u0131 ortadan kalkana kadar yanma i\u015flemini devam ettirmek i\u00e7in geri yay\u0131lacak ve daha fazla balmumu eritecek kadar \u0131s\u0131 olu\u015fur.<\/p>\n<p>Bir mumu ilk yakt\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131zda bu yanma s\u00fcrecinin stabilize olmas\u0131 birka\u00e7 dakika s\u00fcrer. Alev ilk ba\u015fta titreyebilir veya biraz duman \u00e7\u0131karabilir, ancak s\u00fcre\u00e7 stabilize oldu\u011funda alev, karbondioksit ve su buhar\u0131 yayarak sessiz bir g\u00f6zya\u015f\u0131 damlas\u0131 \u015feklinde temiz ve sabit bir \u015fekilde yanacakt\u0131r.<\/p>\n<p>Sessizce yanan bir mum alevi \u00e7ok verimli bir yanma makinesidir. Bunun \u00fczerinde k\u00fc\u00e7\u00fck koyu turuncu-kahverengi bir b\u00f6l\u00fcm ve onun \u00fczerinde de mum alevleriyle ili\u015fkilendirdi\u011fimiz b\u00fcy\u00fck sar\u0131 b\u00f6lge yer al\u0131r.<\/p>\n<p>Oksijen bak\u0131m\u0131ndan zengin mavi b\u00f6lge, hidrokarbon molek\u00fcllerinin buharla\u015ft\u0131\u011f\u0131 ve hidrojen ve karbon atomlar\u0131na ayr\u0131lmaya ba\u015flad\u0131\u011f\u0131 yerdir. Hidrojen burada ilk ayr\u0131lan maddedir ve oksijenle reaksiyona girerek su buhar\u0131 olu\u015fturur. Karbonun bir k\u0131sm\u0131 burada yanarak karbondioksit olu\u015fturur.<\/p>\n<p>Koyu veya turuncu\/kahverengi b\u00f6lge nispeten az oksijen i\u00e7erir.
